Project Name: Reading PK-12 School
Owner: Reading Community Schools
Architect: VSWC Architects
CMR: Shook-Touchstone, K&T Construction and Supply, Inc.
Scope: Provide and Install Telescopic Bleachers, Educational and Lab Casework and Athletic Equipment
Completion Date: Fall 2019
Construction of the new PK-12 building at Reading Community Schools concluded in the Fall of 2019. This building provided opportunities to showcase a variety of product solutions Farnham Equipment Company offers on a large project covering multiple scopes.
The administrative offices to the Elementary, Middle and High School came with custom millwork, followed by Stevens Educational Casework littered throughout the classrooms and in some hallways. Lab Casework from Stevens was placed in the science rooms, as well as a fume hood through Air Master Systems. Music Casework was placed for storage of instruments for the school through Stevens.
Products from Performance Sports Systems and Hussey Seating Company were installed throughout the two gymnasiums. P.S.S. provided basketball backstops, divider curtains and wall pads to complement Hussey’s wall-attached telescopic and manual bleachers we installed. Hussey also supplied a media platform to provide a great view of the entire court. Nevco, Inc. assisted with a scoreboard to complete the gymnasium.
Stevens “Build and Hold” Program was a highlight of this project. Due to the multiple areas and floors within the new building, the casework by Stevens was built ahead of time to ensure exact delivery. This was critical with a changing time frame for the project and allowed Farnham to guarantee its work was ready to go when needed. This allowed the Construction Manager to focus on other aspects of the project, knowing our portion was secure and handled properly.
