The Huntington Huntsmen are proud to play athletic events at Myrl Shoemaker Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. Due to years of wear and tear, the existing stadium home grandstand had begun to show its age. The district began a conversation with Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) about replacement.
After several site visits and back-and-forth dialogue regarding code compliance considerations, press box options and more, the district contracted with FEC to remove the existing seating and install new home side grandstand bleachers at the stadium. The removal took place in the summer of 2022 and the new seating was installed later in the fall.
The new seating is an elevated aluminum grandstand, 186 feet in length with 12 seating rows. Including the ADA wheelchair spaces provided, the seating capacity is approx. 1,300. This new grandstand has multiple exits and an ADA access ramp.
The end result was a fantastic-looking new home grandstand for Huntington Local Schools. Due to its reputation and reliability, FEC was chosen for the seating replacement to complete a much-needed makeover of the stadium. The district is thrilled for the fans and spectators who will experience future games in a cleaner and safer environment.
