Project Overview
Bucyrus City Schools contacted Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) to remove the existing home grandstands ahead of the 2024 football season and replace them with brand-new seating through Sturdisteel. By utilizing the TIPS Purchasing Cooperative, the school was able to streamline the purchase process and ensured working directly with FEC to get the desired layout and final product. FEC worked with the school from start to finish, beginning with an initial site visit, to working through TIPS and creating a layout that fit the schools needs, and finally handling the entirety of removal and disposal of the existing seating before moving to install the new, all ahead of the 2024 season. This project exemplifies FEC’s turn-key capabilities it provides for customers in need of outdoor seating solutions. TIPS played a critical role in being able to complete this project, as it offered a competitively procured contract through Sturdisteel to, saved time and financial resources necessary to fulfill the bid requirements to complete this purchase.
Key Project Features
1. Outdoor Grandstands: Sturdisteel
The project features new outdoor grandstand seating by Sturdisteel, delivered and installed by FEC’s installation crew. This new home side grandstand is 12-rows, 150’ long and features:
- Seating for over 1,000 spectators
- (3) sets of stairway entrances, including an ADA compliant rampway for wheelchair patrons
- Customized “SturdiWrap” wind cover along the back and sides of grandstand, with custom school logos
- Wheelchair Cut Spaces for ADA requirements
- Aluminum anodized seats and risers
- Galvanized steel angle frame understructure with galvanized steel cross-bracing and guardrail posts
