Project Name: Archbishop Hoban High School | Akron City Schools
Completion: Fall 2019
Four years ago, Farnham Equipment Company provided assistance to Archbishop Hoban and installed two bleachers for the visitors side of their football stadium. As a result, Hoban called back asking Farnham to help upgrade their home bleachers.
This project held great importance for Archbishop Hoban. With a rich history of football excellence, including OHSAA State Championships from 2015-2018, upgrading their 35 year old bleachers was critical. Farnham was tasked to come in prior to the 2019 fall season to get Hoban ready for a fifth straight run at being OHSAA State Champs.
The steel frames had rusted and the wood hadn’t held up with the winter conditions for the bleachers. As a result, repainting occurred every few years to mitigate the wear and tear that comes with wood bleachers. Looking closely, the paint had chipped away, both on the seats and the bleacher decks.
The wooden seats were removed and the paint sand-blasted. After a fresh coat of paint, Farnham installed anodized aluminum seats from SturdiSteel. These seats were better equipped to hold up throughout the year.
Their 30-row high, 5-section bleachers were upgraded with new center aisle rails for the four existing aisles ensuring the 48” egress necessary for code compliance.
