For years, Delphos St. John’s High School has been a powerhouse at basketball. Ranked 6th all-time in OHSAA State Tournament appearances, the school takes great pride in its basketball program. Unlike many other schools, Delphos had kept the classic wooden look to their gymnasium with wooden bench seats and wood slat-back VIP seating that provided great aesthetics during game days.
Last year, the school approached Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) about renovating the bleachers on the east side of the gymnasium. After several discussions about whether or not to keep the vintage wooden look to the gym, Delphos St. John’s opted for a more modern look that showed off their school pride and upgraded their bleachers for years to come.
Farnham Equipment Company installed a new bank of “Maxam” telescopic bleachers from Hussey Seating Company in late 2021. This new bank includes 11 rows of seating that accommodates approx. 600 spectators. With auto-rotating aisle rails and eight ADA wheelchair spaces, Delphos is now set up to meet code compliance for ADA seating and experiences a shorter set-up time with the auto aisle rail system.
To give the bleachers a “WOW factor”, Delphos opted for Hussey’s “Xtreme Logo” option with a custom bright yellow “SJ” at both ends of the bank. This, along with the blue “Courtside Seats” and optional bright yellow aisle rails, gives a revamped look to the gymnasium as a whole.
This seating replacement at Delphos St. John’s was a great example of upgrading a gymnasium while keeping the school spirit a priority. FEC specializes in this type of seating replacement with on-time installation using FEC’s in-house, factory-trained technicians.
