Project Name: Winton Woods PK-6 School
Owner: Winton Woods City Schools
Architect: SHP Leading Design
CMR: Skanska USA Building, Inc.
Scope: Provide and Install Educational Casework, Telescopic Bleachers and Athletic Equipment
Completion Date: Winter 2021
Winton Woods PK-6 School began through a collaboration between SHP Leading Design and Skanska Building, Inc after a 2016 bond levy paved the way for new facilities to be built in the district. Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) was awarded contracts to provide multiple scopes of work to this new building, which is expected to open its doors to students in August 2021.
Extensive Educational Casework by Stevens Industries, Inc. can be seen throughout the corridors, classrooms and even behind sliding doors of the new PK-6 building. In the art portion of the building, a lip was added to the casework for more organized storage, while many rooms used sliding doors that would reveal more storage casework. The corridors throughout the building have long rows of cubbies for storage and the Fusion Maple finish works nicely with the bright blue and green emphasis SHP designed for the building. Music Casework is also visible in portions of the building.
As you enter the center of the new building, you will see an open-space design for one of two gymnasiums. Farnham Equipment Company provided and installed telescopic bleachers and athletic equipment, courtesy of Hussey Seating Company and Performance Sports Systems. The 8-tier bleacher came attached to the wall with a collapsable first-step system known as Sure-Step.
This project was a great example of how the design of a building can bring out the products that complement them. The casework throughout the building stands out with the innovative design from SHP. Farnham Equipment Company was able to deliver and install multiple products to this new building, a staple of many jobs FEC is awarded.
