Farnham Equipment Company worked with MKC Associates, Inc. and Mike Coates Construction on the new Springfield Local 7-12 School that welcomed students at the start of the 2014-2015 school year. FEC provided a thorough package that included: 123200 Casework, 123553 Science Casework, 115123 Library Stack Systems, 126600 Telescopic Stands, and 126100 Auditorium Seating.
As you enter the new building, you are greeted at the reception desk finished in Hampton Walnut with pearl white interior and brush nickel hardware. Plastic laminate casework complements the administrative offices and work rooms all provided by Stevens Industries. Classrooms throughout the building, for both Jr. High students and High School students, house Stevens casework, also in Hampton Walnut. Additional areas include: concessions, art rooms, life skills rooms, the cafeteria, and media center. The new 7-12 building also houses an extensive music and theatre wing complete with vocal and ensemble rooms, a band room with instrument storage, and a scene shop all furnished with Stevens casework.
There are eleven science labs in the new building that are furnished with CampbellRhea wood science lab casework finished in Heritage Oak including: instructor’s desks, ADA safety centers, wardrobe casework, and base cabinets. Lab Shield fume hoods by CampbellRhea were also provided.
The new state-of-the-art media center includes a distance learning lab and has a layout that provides numerous learning environments perfect for small group study, tutoring, and group gatherings. Brodart Contract Furniture furnished the library with their Chancellor’s Collection circulation desk complemented by a book return unit, ADA transaction station, book truck, paperback display units, and periodical displays and Omega shelving units. Students have seating options with the Chancellor Lounge chairs in Sherpa Grey or the reading tables with upholstered seats.
The new building features a high school gymnasium with two banks of Hussey Seating Company telescopic bleachers and one bank of bleachers in the junior high gymnasium. The high school gymnasium features two semi-permanent video platforms on one wall-to-wall bank of the 9-row bleachers. The second bleacher bank features a safety end-closure curtain to prevent unauthorized access to the understructure.
Hussey Seating Company also provided fixed seating in the auditorium. The Quattro Classic Series seating features rounded backs with standard foam upholstered in graphite-colored fabric with black end panels. The auditorium seats have a net seating of 640 with ADA spaces available.
