Ahead of the 2024 season, Southeast Local Schools in Apple Creek, Ohio contracted BSHM Architects and CT Taylor Construction to handle the design and project management of a new k-12 building for the district. Project was slated to commence prior to the 2024 school year. Having experience working with both companies, Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) received contracts awards for multiple scopes of work.
The primary scope of work FEC delivered is educational casework through Stevens Advantage. This casework, primarily in a natural rift color, is visible in the receptionist area in the entrance, the mail room and teacher work areas, and the classrooms throughout for students.
Perhaps the biggest attraction to the new k-12 building is the indoor gymnasium area. Upon entrance, they will see their school colors in the form of brown courtside seats with a “W” spelled out in the seats. Prior to stepping onto the bleacher, patrons will notice the school logo and the words “WHS” on the lower parts of the court. As they walk up the bleachers to their seats, they will notice that there are custom end caps that also have the school logos in them. All of these customizations came with the Hussey Seating Company telescopic bleachers, along with auto-rotating aisle rails. Additionally, athletic equipment from Gared Performance Sports Systems (GPSS) was provided, including basketball hoops, wrestling mat hoists, and custom wall padding that spells out “Waynedale” and “Bears”.
This project involved several iterations of revisions and conversations with the school about customization of the bleachers, along with several issues on-site the FEC installation team had to handle and navigate during the delivery schedule. The finished product showcases a school spirit that the district is thrilled about.
